You are right...it's not free. The data I've put on the free sites has come from "my" money and "my" time of many trips to the state archives and different libraries along with purchases of a microfilm reader and many rolls of microfilm that I spend "my" time transcribing. What I want to spend and give back to the genealogy community as free data is my business and I'm surprised that Ancestry doesn't respect that because I definitely respect their time, effort and research they have put on their site. My research is done for other researchers, not for another genealogy site to add what I've done to their data base. If Ancestry wants the data then let them obtain it the same way I did.
