Looking to communicate with anyone connected to the Palomba family living in Bone, Algeria in the late 1800's, and/or anyone connected to a DiGiacomo living there about the same time. I am quite certain the Palombas were French and are also connected to the family name DiRenzo.

Hello,

I am looking for my mother's French relatives. My mother was born and adopted in the U.S. and we recently learned that her birthmother's name was Josette Crisafi (maiden name was Garbine). Josette was born in 1920 in Maillot, Algeria but was of French and Spanish descent. She supposedly had a brother named Andre and a mother named Josephine. My mother and I looking for any of Josette's siblings, nieces or nephews. If anyone has information about the Garbine family from Algeria or France, please contact me.

Looking for a relative of my mother's. Her name is Gilberte Antoinette CHOLET b.04/14/1928 in Algieria, probably in Oran. All I know is her father was French and her mother was Spanish, He died in WWII, was a pilot, M.I.A., probably shot down in German territory. Her mother's name was Adele Blanche Lucie Ermine Anton Cholet, she died in Paris in 1966 or so. Gilberte has a cousin by her aunt Helen Anton Lecerf named Gerard whom I think lives in France. Gilberte emigrated to the U.S.A. in about 1948 to the Tacoma, WA area. Was married for about 7 years to a man named WOLD, Kenneth. I'm not really interested in him but maybe the name would ring a bell with someone.

John Dubh Mhor Stewart, natural son of James Berg Stewart, 2nd Laird of Ardvorlich, Perthshire Scotland: b/about 1635: d/about 1719. He was a soldier for the Marquess of Atholl and got from him a a beneficial tack of the Mill and the Lands of Carnlea (Carnlia) on the North Shore of Loch Earn. My gggGrandfather, Robert Stewart: b/about 1770 in Wester Ardveich: d/about 1830, was a decendant of John Stewart. He married Catharine McNaughtan 1774 and they had ten children: Robert died and Catharine came to Canada with the ten children in 1835. Some of these children were married and had children of there own. I feel that some decendants of John Dubh Mhor Stewart work at the Ardvorlich Estate, on the south shores of Loch Earn and some reside today in South West Perthshire. Any information on this Stewart/McNaughtan line would be appreciated.

This Beroud family were originally from Switzerland although maybe the family lines can be traced back to the Burgundy area of France. Grandpa had brothers and sisters of whom we know very little other than their names.
Grandpa came to Canada, met our grandmother and took up a homestead in northern Manitoba. I would like to exchange trees with other family members working on the Beroud/Bisonson family. Thanks. Sharon

I'm looking for family history (mother's side) in Algiers. Last known relative in Algiers was before WW2 circa 1920's/1930's. The above surnames appear in France and Arab lands (and in England as Mowbray/ Membery thanks to the Norman conquest!) Not sure of our original surname spelling it was altered by Great Grandfather (?), it may even have originally been Mammerri . Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

Algerian/Tunisian grandfather

My grandfather supposedly ran away to sea when he was 12. We have even had problems identifying the name (which doesn't help!). From crew lists I've tracked down he has consistently signed his name as Ali Bell Mohomll.

From the Central Index Register of Seamen 1913-1941 I see that he states his place of birth was Sfax, Algeria. But Sfax is in Tunisia not Algeria! So which is it - is he Algerian or Tunisian?

Was there ever a time when it was all Algeria? Did the distinctions perhaps become blurred when they were both part of the French protectorate?

Any assistance/thoughts would be gratefully received.

MIA forever. Have heard he flew for Spain. My mother, Gilberte Antoinette Cholet had one cousin that she knows of, and they lived with her grandfather. Moonie died in France in the mid 1960's. Mother never heard from any other of her family ever after she emigrated in late 1940's and married a Kenneth Wold in Washington State.
