I am trying to find out how to locate the birthplace of my gggrandfather, Joseph Silva. He arrived in Hawaii in 1848 or 1860 before the large immigration of Portuguese. His son's marriage certificate says Joseph was born in Cape Vert. This is the only clue I have of where he was born.
