The records would be found at the Cambra de Brava, Cape verde. It is located in Villa, Brava. You would have to give them his name and approximate dates. Something to be mindful of is that if he did own land there it may have already have been passed down to other relatives. So if he had inherited the land from parents, he may have had siblings who would have had a share in the land as well. Since he never returned, it would have been passed to a relative or "taken over" by a new resident which happens a lot.
It is definitely worth a try to contact them. Be advised that it may take a long while before getting a response. I am still waiting on info and I was there personally to make the request in 2010
