I am trying to locate my grandfathers first wife (Dorothy Ann Hawkins -
don't know maiden name).
My grandfather was Denis James Richmond Hawkins born 14/6/ 1888 in
Scotland. He fought in WW1 in a SA Volunteer Regiment and then in the
Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve as a Sub Lt.
He emigrated to Africa and travelled throughout central and east Africa
as a British Native Commissioner.
He eventually settled in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and married his
2nd wife (my grandmother) in 1931.
I am not sure where he met and married Dorothy, or if she died or they
were divorced. I know they had a daughter called Lynette .
Can anyone help me?
