Please can you let me know if anyone know about 'Servina' family from Anse Boileau, Mahe, Seychelles

about 1850 onwards. My grandmother name was Irene Servina I think she was born sometime around 1918 and dont know much about my family and I am very intereted. I know a bit more about my Grandfather side who is Arissol from Anse Boileau

I have not researched the Servina and Arrisol familes but I will check and revert. Am I correct in that she married a Arrisol.

Yes she married Henry Arissol, Anse Boileau. I know she died in 1952. That is Irene Servina.

I dont know much about family in Seychelles and would love to know a bit more.

I visited the Seychelles Archives today and found a birth for Irene Servina born 26th August 1917 at Anse Etoile at 8.00 am. However the birth record was for a Irene Baltide. The birth was natural with mother as Lorraine Baltide, of non profession and living at Anse Etoile. I had a photocopy made and visited the Civil Status Office. They had a entry for the legal acknowledgement of Irene Baltide by her father Elysee Servina. Date was 28th September 1925.

At the Archives I found a record in the marriage index for a marriage between Calebe Henry Yacinthe Arisol and Irene Servina on 6th May 1941.

I checked my records and found a birth for Elysee Servina on 22nd March 1886 at Anse Boileau. Father was Clement Servina and Maguitte Creau (most probably Marguerite has there is different spellings for the different births)

I also found a birth for a Aimee Lorraine Biltide on the 23rd February 1900 at Anse Etoile. Mother was given as Tobie Baltide. No father so was most probably a natural birth.

Could not find a birth for a Tobie Baltide but did find one for a Etobie Balti on 4th July 1868 at Mahe. Father was Auguste Balti and mother was Azemia. This could be her as there was different spellings for names in the early years. Allot of the population could not read and the spelling was left up to the official taking the record.

I hope this information is of interest. Does it ring any bells.

I have the photocopy of Irene Servina (Baltide) birth record and would be happy to post it to you if you let me have a postal address. If interested I would suggest that you send it direct to my email and not post it to the board.

Seems I replied too quick. Looking at the information I have I note that Marguitte Creau had three children with a Clement Servina. Laurent born 7th August 1890 at Anse Boileau, Elysee born 22nd March 1886 at Anse Boileau and Clement born 30th May 1882 at Anse Etoile.

I cant find any births for a Creau before 1904 so it seems that the surname is not local. I think it could be Mauritian. I will check for a marriage certificate as it should give her place of birth and perhaps names of her parents.
