Hi

Please also check out the excellent guide to SA genealogy and its constraints on www.ancestry24.com before it closes end Feb.

It is key to search one at a time all databases on naairs. Also search ancestry24 and eggsa.org. A good site is the 1820settlers.com. Probably not a descendant but shows in laws, marriages, etc.

There are no copies of censuses. Apparently they were destroyed by prev. Govts.

Naairs does not contain BMD but is good on estate papers which contain death certificates. This is all explained in ancestry24.

Re places lived try directories of businesses which also contained names of private people. Forerunners of telephone directories.

Also try eggsa branch in Durban and historical societies in Durban. Try the Kz Natal discussion list on rootsweb for help.

Welcome to genealogy sleuthing the extreme way!

Best wishes, Wendy
