Dear Richard,
Thanks for the information, this is the info that i do have:
William Henry Mellors came from England date not known, he married Wilhelmena Rattery, marriage date not known. According to a note from Wilhemena it states that William died 11 November 1935. William and Wilhemena had the following children:
John Leslie (my grandfather-borne 24 Aug 1907 and died 4 Aug 1987 in springs TVL9Guateng)
Edward George
Florence Helen Annie (married Harcombe)
Edna Iris Ruby (married Williamson)
I have been able to get copies of Florence and Edna husbands estate documents. I have also been able to recieve documents of the Divorce of James Alexander Mcleish versus Amy Crawford Mcleish (nee Black) and Edward Mellors, duly assisted by his fatehr William Henry Mellors. (according to the documents Edward was a minor and worked at the Durban Railways)
Usually on the birth certificates from the consulate it gives you the date of the father and mother at the time of the childs birth, this would at least give me a age of my greatgrand father.
You are correct I live in Minnesota now and this is very frustrating that I am not able to jump in a car and do research.
The information you have from the archieves is very intresting especially the following, how do I get or apply for this information

According to family William Henry died 11 November 1935. I do not know what province he died in put the Mellors always stay in the Natal (Durban) area or the Gold/coal mines of the Transvaal (JHB, Springs(east rand)
I hope that this clears up some of my confusion in the last posting
