Searching for relatives of the late Shikahachi Nakano and Tsune Matsumoto Nakano from Kumamoto ken or surrounding area. My grandparents emigrated in the 1920's or earlier from Kumamoto, Japan and worked and lived in Pahala, KAU, Hawaii (Big Island). I don't believe that they ever went back to visit Japan after they arrived in Hawaii. They did send their oldest son to Japan for schooling before WWII but he never returned. I am their granddaughter (Sachiko)from Hawaii and I will be visiting Japan in October 2007.

Kimitsuka Family genealogy / Fukushima Prefecture

I understand that my husband's paternal grandfather is from Fukushima. I understand that his name was Bengoro (?) Kimitsuka. I did some research on our family crest / "mon". The crest is known as "sasa rindou" (5 bamboo leaves with three gentian flowers). The crest was originally used by the Murakami-genji family originally established around 950 AD or there abouts. So I am wondering if the Kimitsuka family is an offshoot of that family.

http://www.kanjistyle.com/html/j_image/03.html

If you are related to the Kimitsuka family, I'd like to hear from you!

My late mother in law was from Tokyo, Japan. She was born in 1927. Her name was Kikue Fukushima. She married Lee Gutierrez SR. in 1947 and moved to Oregon. I was hoping someone out there may have info. My husband never had the opportunity to meet his Japanese relatives, and he is quite sure there are many left in Japan somewhere. Also, Kikue was a direct descendant of the Samurai. She never told us much more about her family, other than that as a child she lived with her mother and her aunts in the same home. Her father was apparantly someone very well known in Tokyo, some sort of political figure, but she would never give his name, as he was an absentee father. If anyone has any info, please let us know!

Thanks,

Lee and Mylissa Gutierrez

I believe they married in Japan. They went to Hawaii in 1908. He died in 1951 on Maui, and she died 1955 in Hawaii. They had seven children. My husband remembers Miyo fondly, she made him sling shots. She was his grandmother. Thank you, Trish Elliott-Kashima

Masuzo Hagita

I am looking for any information about the family ancestors and history of Masuzo and Ichi Hagita in Tokyo or Chiba. Their children are Hagima, Minoru, Mariko, Tokie, and a half-brother Kurando. I'm a friend of Tokie (Hagita) Spitz. She married Jim Spitz an American Army soldier after WWII. I have some information that Masuzo Hagita was an engineer and may have been an inventor of a pump. I know the family left Tokyo and moved to Chiba during or after WWII, and that they have a family burial plot there, but I'm not sure of the exact location. Please contact me with any information you may have regarding this family, and how I may contact any living relatives. I live in California in the United States, and my email is: it3fittro@yahoo.com. Thank you. Gary
