I am helping a friend research his maternal ancestry. They are all from Japan.
Since I have not had any experience with Japanese records I need some advise on how to start searching.
Hisae Yamagata married John Sramek at the US Embassy in Tokyo, Japan on 7 April 1966. Soon after they came to the US and settled in Cook county Ill....where Hisae became a naturalized citizen. However, I don't find the citizenship records listed anywhere.
Hisae had five siblings ....her parents were Akio Yamagata and Yayo Nakamura (maiden name)....
How do I start research in Japan?
