My husband, Richard K. Doi is third generation Japanese in the U.S. His father, Shigeo F. Doi was born in Tacoma, Washington 25 June 1914. And, his father, Kitaro Doi was born in Hiroshima-ken in a village called Hera Mura, we think, 10 June 1882. Kitaro was married 3 times. First, to Shigeo's mother,Shina Hiraishi 19 July 1911 and divorced 1914. Second, to Mine Gotanda 28 April 1915. Third, Takano Nitta 1 Dec 1919. All marriages took place in Sanger, California. Kitaro died 28 Sep 1958. His father was Bunsuke Doi who's wife was named Yoshi. And, his father was named Bunpei Doi. Shina Hiraishi Doi's father was Saichi Hiraishi. Shina was born 13 Oct 1894.

Shigeo said he had a cousin in Japan named Kiso Doi who was a personal guard to the Emperor and therefore did not have to go to war in WW II. Kiso died in Walnut Grove, Calif in 1986. We are trying to find any connection to our family still living in Japan.

Richard's mother, Hide Jessie Nakanisi Doi was born in Honolulu, Hawaii 24 May 1916. She died Nov 1981. Her father was Kantaro Nakanishi born 20 March 1888 in another village close to Hiroshima-shi called Inokuchi. His father was Kisuke Nakanishi and his mother was Taki Kusunoki. Hide's mother was Ichino Nitta born 10 July 1893. She married Kantaro 16 Sep 1914 and was his first of 2 wives. Her father was Ryuji Nitta who's wife was named Rise. Hide has a sister, Natsue (Bessie) Kawami living in Omaha, Neb and a brother, Kan-ichi (Tom) Nakanishi living in Calif.
Again, we are trying to trace this family to any living relatives in Japan.
