Jakob Rieger and Rosina Ott Rieger had 10 children, all were born in Russia. Four stayed in So. Russia: Christine, married Carl Alexander, and apparently was once married to Mehlhoff; Lizzie (Elizaabeth?) married John Nies; Kate (Katharine?) married Carl; and an unknown fourth child. All other living children came to the United States with their mother, Rosina Ott Rieger, and other Rieger Relatives such as Christof Rieger, brother of Jakob Rieger, and his family.
Christine, Lizzie and Kate later escaped to Germany from the communists. Christine and her daughter, Martha visited relatives in North Dakota in 1984 (per Jen Rieger Miesen).
The children who came to the US were: Jakob II, married Katharina Ritter. Christof, married Carolina Will. Christof was born February 14, 1869; Carolina was born August 22, 1875. He died December 5, 1926, she died in December of 1919. They had the following children: Jacob, Fred, Katie, Marie, John, Reinhold, Mathilda, Edwin, and Alvina. They lived in Bowdle, South Dakota.
Frederich, born in 1866, died April 29, 1935, married Catherina (Katherina?). They lived in Marisville, North Dakota. No children were born of this union.
Johanna (Hanna), born in 1860, and died before 1937. She married Henry Krause. He was born and died in 1951. They lived in Martin, North Dakota and had 5-6 children.
Rosina (Rosa), Est. born in 1872 and died in 1935, married John Rott, born. They had four children: Fred, John, Christ, and Rosina. They lived at Martin, N.D.
Dorothea (Dora), born May 23, 1878 and died May 30, 1966. Married Freddrich Sauter January 15, 1903. He was born November 11, 1863 and died February 11, 1934. Their children were: Rosina, Emma, Otto, Tillie, Alvin, Walter, and Leona. Dora married a second time to Jacob Alexander. He was born in 1875 and died in 1963. The Sauters lived in Goodrich, North Dakota.
Rosina Ott Rieger came to the United States in 1903 with Christof Rieger and his family (Per. Jen Miesen). Unknown if, or how many, of her other children came to the US with her at that time. They arrived June 3, 1903 in New York on a North Star Line ship from Hamburg, Germany from their home in Glueckstal, South Russia.
