my GGGrandfather Francis Scott, b. 1827 Sherriff Hutton England, is shown on the 1851 Census for the village of Newtown in St.Annes Alderney he is the Grocer and Innkeeper, his wife is Matilda, b. in Gurnsey abt 1830 and their daughter is 11 months b Alderney. I am trying to find out matilda's maiden name and possibly a birth record for Elizabeth. I am new to Channel Island research and would appriciate any help or advice.Francis would likely have been married in 1849 or 50 in Gurnsey or Alderney.
