I can't help you with the hospital/workhouse records enquiry but on later censuses I picked up a married couple, John (or Jean) and Ellen Falle. The general consensus is that he was born about 1839 in the parish of St Saviour, Jersey and that she was born about 1836 in the parish of St Mary, Jersey. They don't appear to have had any children that I could see. For many years they were residing in the parish of St Lawrence, Jersey. They last appear together on the 1901 census and then ten years later Ellen is a widow. His occupation was 'agricultural labourer' in 1891 and 'gardener' in 1901. I think Ellen's father was born in England, according to the 1911 census.
