Thomas Leigh married twice, his first wife was Katherine who died 1558, his second wife was Anne or Amy died 1603 daughter of Richard Wodden of Walingham Beds , she was the widow of Richard Wheatley (died 1558) of Bermondsey, they had 3 sons and 1 daughter her maiden name will account for the middle name she is alleged to have used http://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1509-1558/me...

I would suggest that she married for a third time to Richard Schooley, my justification for this is a reference to a will of Amy Schooly http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/CommunityAndLiving/ArchivesAn...

We know that when Richard Scholey died his will was disputed between amy his widow and Richard the son, I believe that Richard was the son from a previous marriage of his father and he wanted to claim Caldwell while Amy wanted to retain it for her son with Thomas Leigh ie John Leigh her eldest natural son who went on to inherit under his mothers will

Richard was awarded a coat of arms by a visitation of 1582 however this was by the Norray King of Arms William Flower who was responsible for families north of the river Trent, this supports the belief that like most Scholeys he was a Yorkshireman by birth or at least bloodline
