1841 Census - Northill - Family Name: JONES

Surnames: JONES / GAILOR
I am researching the JONES family name on the 1841 CENSUS. I am looking at NORTHILL where properties listed are shown as: BURY?, MILL LANE, VICARAGE and TITHE FARM. Under properties MILL LANE and VICARAGE there is a Schoolmaster, Schoolmistress and Pupils listed (with a tick in front of the word /pupil - I'm sort of surprised school pupils are listed at school rather than at home?). There are also other adults listed with what looks like under "profession or employment" as the same tick in front of two letters shown as: /J.S. or /F.S. - ANY SUGGESTIONS WHAT THESE LETTERS MIGHT STAND FOR?
