WHITEMAN/WHITMAN in Flitwick and elsewhere

Hi,
I'm researching the WHITEMAN (aka WHITMAN and WIGHTMAN)family from Flitwick. Robert Whiteman, a blacksmith and his wife Judith Dearman baptised children in Maulden and Flitwick as follows;
Elizabeth 1761, James 1762, James 1764, Elizabeth or Charlotte 1766 all in Maulden.
Samuel 1775, John 1777 and Sarah, Mary and Fanny 1788 in Flitwick.
There are burials in Flitwick for Samuel, infant and John in both cases only a few weeks after their baptisms. I suspect that Samuel and John may have been baptised because they were unlikely to survive and not necessarily because they were both infants. So I'm also thinking that Sarah, Mary and Fanny were not baptised as infants but may have been much older. I'm hoping that someone else is also looking at this family and can help me out.
At the moment my only idea is to try and get to see the original register in the hope that it has more information than the transcript.
