In cleaning out my mother in law's apartment after her death we have come across an interesting piece related to the Negus family. It is a cross engraved with the names of Thomas Negus and Jane Davidson along with their marriage date. It appears to be a 50th anniversary piece based on the dates.
I do not believe that we have any familial link but we are not sure how this piece came to be in my MIL's possession. We have visited an estate/antique jeweler but thought perhaps descendants would be interested in obtaining this piece. The jeweler verified the age of the piece at being 140 years old and found it odd that it was purchased as a celebratory anniversary piece as typically this particular type of cross was purchased as a mourning piece.
