Thank you David, I haven’t got the death cert for William Godlington, but I presume that, as 68 yrs was recorded at his burial, this is correct & the age recorded on the 1841 Census (45) is wrong. As you say when he married Mary Tinkler in 1802, he couldn’t possibly have been 6 years old….
I agree interesting family life with mother, Elizabeth & her baby Joseph & Elizabeth’s daughter Hannah & her baby, Sophia. I’ve found several interesting ancestors & a sad one – William Faulkner (who was William Godlington & Elizabeth’s son (& my gt gt grandfather)). Another ancestor proving to be ‘interesting’ is Elizabeth’s son John who was transported to Australia for 7 yrs as a convict, I will now have to buy ancestry internat. to find out what happened to him.
And I initially thought my ancestors weren’t very interesting…..
