Bonnett...French Huguenot?

Ok So I'm trying to trace my ancestors back as it has been told to me by my grandfather that one of his Grandfather's generations back was a Bonnett/Bonnet French Huguenot and that he spoke french and was a Frenchman. So far I have got back to 1808 with my 5x Grt Gandfather who was 'John Bonnett' born 1808, Im not sure where he was born but records keep popping up as Beck Row near Lakenheath...Which isn't surprising seeing as Bonnett's are still there, and I live in Ely, It was just the Spouse it has wrote down for john isn't correct, Because in 1832 John's Son who was also called John (My 4th Grt Grandfather) was christened in Ely St marys church and it listed John Bonnett and ''Catharine'' as his parents. yet when I research John Bonnett born circa 1808 and view hints it lists ''Mary'' as his spouse? Surly this must be the same person as it is the same name, Birth year and in the same area. Can anyone help me get back further or anyone know of any Bonnett/Bonnet French Huguenots settling in Cambridgeshire or the surrounding area??? If this helps John born circa 1808 was also sent for 10 years transportation to australia for stealing sheep.
