Thank you so much!
Gwendoline Frances Martin married Joseph George Irwin in England during the war. I'm not sure where and, to be honest, I'm not sure when. It was the war, and they "moved" the date back about three months when they came to the states due to daughter Gwenda's birth in the UK less than nine months before the marriage. (A strong and wonderful marriage that lasted more than 52 years!)
I'm so grateful for all the information provided in response to my posting. Gwen turns 87 in July, and we have a two-week family gathering planned for June with her. Her father, Harold L. Martin, and her mother, Jessie Bell Martin, divorced when she was a young teen, so she is learning along with me about some of these ancestors. I'm to receive more information from her next week in the mail, so I'll undoubtably be posting more questions.
Thanks again from the sunny South! (Atlanta, GA, USA)M
