I'm trying to confirm the parents of my 3G grandfather William Baker and exactly where he was born (in about 1809).
He was married (at St. Pancras) on Christmas Day 1828, and lived in Camden. He died in 1861. The 1851 census says Canterbury (actually Kenturbury! - but the census taker also spelt Surrey wrongly!). The 1861 census says Dover! The consensus from other message boards seems to be that Dover is wrong (possibly the only place in Kent his wife could think of!) and I have been unable to find any births in the Dover area that "work" with other facts (marriage/residence/etc.).
There is an IGI entry for a William Baker, baptised 8/1/1809 at St. Mildred's Canterbury - his parents were William and Elizabeth.
I'd really like to be able to confirm that the St. Mildreds birth is correct, and if possible further details for William and Elizabeth.
Any help would be great.
