My distant grandfather Louis Gueriot was possibly an orphan emigre from the french revolution. He was born 1801 in Marylebone. He married in Tottenham in 1823. Between 1827 & 1830, his children were baptized in Stratford, Bow; Louis was a labourer.
About 1830, Louis moved to Shepton Mallet as a "silk throwster". Louis was literate (he signed his marriage certificate) I assume he was working as an apprentice while in Stratford. His marriage witnesses were Joseph & Lydia Bridges; Joseph might have been a co-worker?
Are there any apprenticeship records for silk manufacturers near to Stratford Bow?
