Dear Keith (and others interested in Suntrap)
After my Mum (Gillian Louise Pasco nee Woolgar dob 18/10/43) died I visited Suntrap with my daughters. We had a chat with the guy who lives in the little house on the site, who had just turned 80 I think, and who had lived there all his life (I presume you know him Keith). He told me some of the history of the building (though I didn't realise it was something to do with that Baring family). I said that it must have been nice for my Nan to be away from the bombs for a couple of weeks, but he said that the area was heavily bombed due to the gunpowder factory down the road.
For your info: My sisters and I are organising a fundraising bike ride in memory of my Mum (supporting the Myeloma UK charity). The route begins at Suntrap and passes through all the places Mum lived - Beckton, Crayford, Margate & Canterbury (a mere 250km!). We will be setting off from Suntrap at about 8.30 am on Saturday 21st July. I'm meeting the manager of Suntrap later to discuss some details. We are also going to plant a tree on the site later in the year. All welcome to attend - but either way, I will send you some photos Keith.
I would also like a copy of the booklet - I will e-mail you my address.
Best wishes
Greg
