Seeking any information about my great grandfather, William Legood, born about 1860 in Norfolk. There is a possibility that he was born in the Ditchingham area and that his mother was Hannah Legood. He married Ellen Eliza Dye who was born in Seething in 1865. Ellen Dye's mother could have possibly been Sarah Bately born about 1837 at Bergh Apton. My father remembers that William had a brother who he thinks was named Tom. William and Eliza's children were as follows, Maud, Maria, Eliza (died in her teens), Emily, Ellen, Rachel (my grandmother, born Kirstead who married Walter Mills of Beccles, Suffolk) Sarah, Kathleen, Reginald and Robert. William and Eliza moved the entire family to Barry, South Wales in the early 1900's and William found employment in the docks there, loading and unloading the banana boats. They eventually returned to Beccles where amongst other jobs, he was employed at the maltings.
