Blackwell's History Week takes place in Oxford from Monday 5 November 2012 until Saturday 10 November 2012 at their Broad Street shop.
A wide range of offerings await historians, including a presentation entitled :-
"Exploring Your Roots - an informal introduction to researching your family history".
This talk will be presented by this society's Alan Simpson, who will be guiding his audience through the preliminary steps in creating a history of their roots. Aimed at both budding family historians and beginners, this is a free event to those who have registered as potential attendees at the shop's Customer Service Department. Alan will be giving his talk at 7.00pm on Monday 5 November 2012.
There are many other interesting events in the Blackwell's History Week, including a talk at 7.00pm on Wednesday 7 November 2012 at 7.00pm, when Clive Aslet will discuss his new book "'War Memorial : The Story of One Village's Sacrifice From 1914 to 2003". This book unravels the story of one war memorial, in the Dartmoor village of Lydford, and traces in vivid detail the lives of the twenty-two men, and one woman, who made the supreme sacrifice for their country.
