Hello Angelique,

Would it be possible for you to check the records for a Graham/ Graeme HALLIWELL b. c1869 In Croydon. He is in the 1881 Census at boarding school Pratts Bottom, Kent.(listed as Graham HOLLIWELL) - I can't seem to connect him to any family in Surrey.
Can't locate him on the 1901 British Census, he may have the left the UK by then. Turns up in New Zealand about 1909.

Many thanks,
Judy

Dear Angelique

It was very kind of you to offer your services and wondered if you were not too busy if you could help. I know that in 1941 there was an Eli Edward Walker living at 70 Derby Rd, Croydon . He marrried in August 1941 and his wifes name was Margaret. Between then and 1958 he married Mary A ?and was still living at the same address. If possible could you for instance check 1950 to see what his wifes name was as I would like to send for a marriage certificate for Mary A ?

Thank you once again

kind regards

Sharon

Hello, I saw your "old" message regarding doing look-ups. My great-grandfather was Joseph Jay Knight, born 1828 in Surrey (so family stories go.) He came to the USA in 1843 with his father, James Knight and step-mother Esther (Mayne) Knight. My father always said that when Joseph came to America, he "left two own brothers" in England. This apparently meant full brothers, not half-brothers. One was Richard Knight who married Mary Barnes on May 16, 1841 in St. George's, Camberwell, Surrey. The 1881 British census shows he was a "managing and practical silversmith" living at "The Limes Flodden Rd, Camberwell, Surrey." His brother, Thomas, was apparently in the same professon - don't know if he was in the same business location. If you have time, could you please see if you can find any information about either of these two men? I would really appreciate your help. Thanks. Maxine

Hi

Do you happen to have a Joshua Hayward in your family tree born about 1841 in Croyden? He married Mary, and their children included Ebenezer, Charles, George and Ethel

Kind Regards, Justine

Hi

If the 1851 census is indexed I would really appreciate a lookup! I am trying to find Joshua Hayward who was born in Croyden and would be aged about 10 years old.

Many, many thanks, Justine

Yes, I do!

Joshua John Hayward was the son of Eleazar and Jane Hayward, christened 29 September 1839. He was buried at St John the Baptist, Croydon on 25 May 1840 aged 13 months.

Another Joshua was born c1841. A Joshua Hayward was buried on 19 Nov 1861 aged 22 in St Peter's Churchyard, Croydon. He was living 'back of Anchor' - a reference to the local pub 'The Blue Anchor'.

The Joshua who might be your Joshua was born in 1839 [May-Sept]. He may also be known as Joshua John. He was still alive in 1851 and he was the son of Ebenezer and Martha [nee Mead]. He was one of nine children. I have no further info on him.

I would love to hear more about your Haywards to see where they all fit in. I have quite a bit of info on the Croydon Haywards although they are mostly fragments until I can get the jigsaw to fit.

Regards,

Catherine

Hi Angelique, was wondering if the 1851 census for Croyden is indexed by surname? If so, I am desperately trying to locate a Thomas Pennell and family. Unfortunately, all I know is that he was a Printer, and would have been born before 1830 possibly 1800 - 1830. ANY help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Elaine

I'm not sure if Croydon is the area I need. Would that include Dulwich and/or Camberwell?
I have info from 1881 and 1891 Census on HENRY WILLIAM CLARKE and his wife SOPHIA and their children in Camberwell. It is really info on SOPHIA I need. She was born abt1840 in Dulwich, but I have no maiden name. I reckon they would have married abt 1865.
Many thanks,
Allanna
