I can't find an obvious candidate in 1851 can you Sue?

But this is probably his marriage...

Name: Richard Best and on the same page a Susan GROVES
Year of Registration: 1852
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: North Witchford
County: Cambridgeshire
Volume: 3b
Page: 1293

The only way to be 100% certain would be to get one of the kids birth certs. For example.......Mary's.

Births Mar 1853

Best Mary Elizabeth in N Witchford volume 3b page 574

Barb,

If you want to purchase a certificate, you can do so online for £7 from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

The website below will tell you what you can expect each of them to tell you.

http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/indexbd.htm

And the website Free BMD (partially transcribed to about the early 1920's http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ is great for trying to search for yourself all the BMD's from 1837 onwards.

Hope that helps?

Carol
