I believe I promised to give you some information about Edward Cook and family. He was born and baptised in Meriden now West Midlands, then Warwickshire at St Laurence's church. His baptism was with an older brother in 1806 so I cannot give you an exact birth year.He has siblings Mary ba 18/04/1796; John ba 06/01/1798; Charles ba 06/01 1800; George baptised with Edward 15/05/1806 and James ba 02/01 1810 His parents were John and Mary I do not have her maiden aname at present. The family earned its living as masons or bricklayers on the Earl of Aylesford's estate at Gt Packington the village adjacent to Meriden to the west. There are few records for the Estate as most were burned by accident in a Muniment Room fire in 1979. Most information I have is based on what a descendant of an elder brother gave me + my own researches for her.As you can imagine she knew little of this period.Edward's father John was probably born in 1752 and the family was living at Meriden by 1796 possibly at Forest Grounds. It could be they had just arrived in the area and did not come from Gt Packington as I have other named men working as masons before this. The Aylesfords had workers from different areas as they owned widespread property for example in Kent and they employed specialists from the North of England but I suggest you first do investigate in Warwickshire.
If oyuneed guidance on what you might research I will make suggestions as I am a qualified published historian. Good Wishes, Doreen Aguutter
