Looking at http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/ again, looks like there are 2 John Eabrys, both arriving in and leaving Leicester around the same time. (John March Eabry died in 1886).

I wrongly assumed that, like my Butlers, one address was Home, and the other was Business - the fact that in some entries John March Eabry is listed as just John Eabry didn't help. To add to the confusion, John March Eabry was a Shopkeeper. John Eabry and family members are variously described as Shopkeepers or Beer Retailers and Shopkeepers!! John March Eabry lived and worked at 62 Buckingham Street.
