There is a Gartocher Road, Gartocher Drive and Gartocher Terrace, less than a mile from where I live.
Right next to it is a huge cemetery. This is in the east end of Glasgow, Scotland. It isn't the same spelling as Gartocharill - but it sounds the same.
If you ever heard anyone in your family talking about Glasgow and Gartocher in the same breath, then it is just possible that this is the place they were referring to. The cemetery is a hilly place, but I have never heard it referred to as Gartocher Hill. Just thought I'd let you know.
