I started with James Booth to see if I could find something for you, however, I found 30+ James Booth's born 1828 in Lancashire in the 1851 census, so without some means of figuring out the right James Booth, I'm stuck already. Do you know parents names or occupation?

I can only see census digatized back to 1851 for the UK but there maybe other ways of finding information. I will see what I can find.

Searching in Ireland is quite difficult as a lot of the ways of finding information were contained in records that have been destroyed by fires and wars, basically you can't go far without a parish not just a County. It can be very frustrating, for myself I can only go back to 1808 and then a brick wall. No Irish census survived intact till 1901-1911 and these are not yet digatized, however, there are other methods beside census, records call census substitutes. Try www.from-ireland.net and if you haven't used it already www.familysearch.org the website for Latter Day Saints they have occasional records back to the 1600's and you could be lucky.
