It has been years since we corresponded; and I have wanted to get back in touch with you. I was very thorough in going through the Memorials of the Deeds, Conveyances and Wills of Ireland. There is only a grantee index; but I went through all of the indexes A to Z sighting down the grantor column. I made abstracts of all the entries up into the 19th Century; but found no evidence of our Alexander Holmes who was a school teacher in Virginia. I would like to continue this off line. There was a county history that said that Alexander Holmes was a member of the Masonic Order. There is an outstanding book on Masons in Ireland and the records exist for the Masonic unit in which Alexander would likely have been a member. Not only that, but this particular group of Masons is recorded to have had many young men who migrated to America. If we could some how get copies of these Masonic records, it might help us.
Also, it would be wise for you to have more of your markers read. You are a valuable link to the family in this regard and you did not have enough of your markers read in your first DNA analysis to be of as much value as they could be. Hoping to continue to correspond with you - but I don't want to post my e-mail on this public site. Got a solution?
