Hi Shane. Thanks for your interest in this. It makes sense that while Catherine was visiting from the U.S. she was baptized there. I recall a diary entry where one of her best friends heard of her conversion to Catholicism and thereafter had nothing to do with her. Catherine seemed very confused by the reaction. Her mother Susan Cook was American, born in Kings Co., NY, her paternal side being English. As far as an age for Patrick Connor, it's only a guess, for which I may be wrong. I have very little knowledge of him, except he married Susan Cook 17 May 1866 in Wharton Co., TX, as her 3rd husband. He died 20 Jan 1870 in East Bernard, Wharton County, of tuberculosis. Susan's previous husbands were born in 1830 and 1831 so maybe I am being a little short-sighted on Patrick's age. It seems no death certificates were used at that early date in Texas.
