Have just recently come across some old letters of my great-grandmother Katherine Vada CONNOR BROWN. Named after a grandmother "Catherine" and a cousin/aunt "Vada".
She was born 27 July, 1868,in Sealy, Texas, child of Patrick O'CONNOR and Susan A. COOK. He dropped the "O" when coming to America. Patrick died abt 1871 in Texas. In 1889, Katherine spent a year in Ireland with her fathers' family. She resisted their attempts to remain with them and returned to the U.S., to live with family in Connecticut. The mailing address she had while in Ireland was: Rathbawn, Hacketstown, County Carlow, Ireland.
