I, too, am descended from that line. According to the "Colonial Families of the United States of America: Volume 7" William Smith Bryan was a landholder in Ireland, County Clare, and was transported as a "rebellious subject" in 1650 to the American Colonies. According to this source, in 1677, Francis Bryan returned to Ireland to try to have the lands returned to the family but was unsuccessful. His son, William, lived at Ballyroney, County Down, Ireland. They were Presbyterians. The town of Bryansford which is nearby is said to be named after the family. I hope this helps you some in your research.
