To Pam from dinandesigns:

I read with great interest that your DINANs are from Scariffe in County Clare.

My gggg grandmother was Margaret DINAN; she married James HALLORAN c1830; their daughter was Bridget HALLORAN born c1835-1839 in Scariffe who married my ggg grandfather James LAIDLER in Ballarat, Victoria in 1859.

We visited Scariffe and nearby Bodyke in 2007 searching for DINANs and HALLORANs. Whilst we were told (at the pub!) that there used to be families of these names in these areas we understood they had moved away. The parish priest at Bodyke searched through his baptism records and did indeed find a baptism for a Bridget HALLORAN at about the right time but her father was listed as Edward HALLORAN, not James HALLORAN.

Would love to hear if you've come across a Margaret DINAN in your research who lived in Scariffe c1835 - probably born c1800-1810.
