Hi! My Torpey family left Ireland sometime in the 19th century, between 1820 and 1855 (we originally thought the latter, but some new information has come to light that makes us think they may have left earlier and gone to Canada first, then Rochester, New York, then Philadelphia, PA.
The Christian names tend to be the same throughout this family. Our immigrants were named helpful things like Mary, John, Michael, Patrick, William.
I have no doubt that all the Torpeys from Clare are a single clan, all related back somewhere, but they left at different times for Australia, U.S., Canada.
So, hi cousin!
