Tom,
Is it possible that Patrick had a brother Michael who stayed behind on the farm of 16 acres approx.
There is only 1 Crotty name appearing in the 1855 Griffiths report for the townland of Killtrellig Co Clare and it is Michael Crotty.
In the August 1825 Co Clare Tithe (Tax) report for Killtrellig only 1 Crotty name appears and it is Martin Crotty.
Judging by the spelling on Patricks headstone he was proud of his Killtrellig Co Clare background.
Have you ever managed to visit Killtrellig ?
Regards,
Paddy O'Brien, Ireland
