Hi, I'm trying to trace an ancestor Daniel HADDIGAN, born c.1835, Kilrush. At the age of about 17 he joined the Oxford Light Foot Infantry and served in the East Indies, India and Malta before settling in Portsmouth, England.
I'm starting to realise that his surname must have been anglicised from one of the following Hedigan, Madigan, McAodhagain and other variants.
Can anyone help me shed some light on what his Irish surname might have been?
Many thanks, Nicola
