Hi,

I think that things may be going a little off track here!

Patrick Dorgan who went to US was born in 1882. He married Ellen Mary Farren in February 1907.

They had two children Patrick Dorgan was born 10/03/1907 and Maureen Dorgan (my grandmother) born 6/5/1908.

Patrick Dorgan went to New York in 1909, and so far as I know he never returned.

Maureen Dorgan moved to Leeds in approx 1925 to follow her mother who had fled Cork under a cloud...

Patrick Dorgan Jnr stayed in Cork and became the editor of the Cork Examiner. My father remembers visiting him as a kid. I understand that he lived in Snugborough in a property either owned or rented by the paper.

He died approx 199x.

Given his date of birth then he would have retired presumably in the 1970's. He would have been the editor along time ago.

He married 'Eva' Coady though I think 'Eva' may have been christened 'Anastasia'. They did not have any children.

So I think it would be unlikely that anyone working at the paper now would be a direct descendant, but you never know...

For the record I'm in Leeds.

Thankyou for your help, I'm trying to find out if Patrick Dorgan senior had any brothers or sisters and what happened to him in New York.

If you would like me to look something up on a census my email is mcc28x[nospam]@hotmail.co.uk - remove [nospam].

kind regards

Mark
