Hi - I have traced my great great grandfather Patrick McCoy (1812) back to the Seven Dials area near Covent Garden in London which was an Irish slum in the early 1800s. He was transported to Van Diemen's Land for 7 yrs having been convicted of stealing a handkerchief at 14. His father was also Patrick and family lore has it that he came from Cork -but it's here that we draw a blank. Can anyone help with McCoys who came from Cork to London in the late 1700s/early 1800s? The elder Patrick was probably a brick maker or stonemason and his wife was Ann O'Shanassy.
