Tim, or whoever, my ggggrandfather and ggggrandmother were Daniel and Elizabeth McLaughlin. Their daughter, Adeline married Robert C. McGrady; Robert and Adeline had about 11 or 12 children, one of whom, Jackson S. was my great grandfather, who married Sally Bates, they had my grandmother, Bertie who married John Newton Thornton. I would love to have information about Daniel and Elizabeth (i.e. her last name). Information I gathered stated that Daniel and Elizabeth were from Scotland and Robert was from County Covan in Ireland (I know this fact to be true). It is told that Robet and Adeline met on the boat over and got married. Daniel was with the Tennessee Volunteers. We don't know how he got to Alabama but it is thought he could have fought in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend with Andrew Jackson. This we do not know for sure. We believe they settled in the Marble Valley area of Coosa County. I am in the process of researching cemeteries in the county to locate Daniel and Adeline's burialplace. I know that Most of the McGrady's are buried at Sardis Church Cemetery in the community where i live. I also attend Sardis Baptist Church. Please e-mail me if you have any other information. My address is mathorn@webshoppe.net.

Thanks, Marian Thornton, Rockford, Alabama
