Have you tried looking at the UK and Ireland Masters and Mates Certificates on ancestry?
There are several Healeys listed.

I also found the Crew Records on

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/merchant-navy-seamen/resu...

very helpful when researching my seafaring ancestors.

If you keep the search simple ie just type in William Healey and tick both variants you will find several records to pay to view. [My subscription has run out and I found being specific didn’t always help me find the records I wanted – but a simple first name & surname often gave me the records I wanted].
When my Great Grandfather, William Henry Healey, sailed to New Zealand as a single man in 1878 the passenger list said he was from Cork, Ireland.
On his marriage certificate in NZ he states he was born in Fredrikstad Norway (around 1858), and that his father was a Sea Captain named Henry Ernest Healey and his mother was named as Hannah Ernestine.
On another record he states that his father was a seaman, so perhaps the Captain bit was an exaggeration??

Is there anything in Irish records that could help find this family?

I received the Marriage Certificate and it shows R C chapel of Rathmore, Registration District of Coom, Union of Killarney in the County of Kerry. Cornelius Murphy was the son of Timothy (deceased) from Schranfada (Scrahanfadda). Hannah was the daughter of Redmond Walsh of Carrigaline (Carrigiline). A little more research has led me to believe that Julia Herlihy was the mother of Cornelius and Johanna Murphy was the mother of Hannah. I still don’t know if these are my GGrandparents but have found no evidence to show that they are not. It appears that they settled in Clashykinleen after their marriage as I have found birth certificates for Hannah, Cornelius and Darby in the subsequent years.

I was so very impressed by your work on the Ambrose family of Kilworth. My family has some amazing similarities with that family, but there are also too many inconsistencies to be theright one. My greatgrandfather, Michael Patrick Ambrose.was b 1859 Kilworth d 1918 Danvers, Ma (next town to Salem, Ma)His father was Patrick Ambrose b Ireland 1822 d Danvers Ma 1902.His mother who died in Ireland in 1880's was Margaret O'Brien. Michael immigrated to Danvers and was helped by his uncle John (around 1882)
Patrick had a brother John 1839-1923,(died in Danvers) a sister Bridget of whom I know very little and a brother Robert b 1832 Not much known about Robert either. Their parents were Michael Ambrose and Julia Ahern. I was really hoping that this was the right family from Castlecooke, but it would seem like there may be some relationship.
Hi again Louise, thank you once again for your time and help. I have a friend who is going to Dublin for a few days at the end of this month so I will give her the references and see if she will get the certificates for me. Between now and then if you do come up with anything else I will add them to my list.

I am going to call it a night now, am feeling rather weary. I work in a Solicitors and it is manic there, so many clients. You have to listen to their stories and sometimes it just drains me. The joys of getting older.

I do check for any messages in the evenings when I get home from work but of course at the weekend the computer is on most of the time when I'm not doing housework or shopping.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hi Louise, sorry I was messaging you and had sent it before I noticed you had sent me another message. Am all over the place. Yes, I am looking for info on James and Catherine but also that of James' father, James Browne, policeman and James' mother, Ellen Swiney, basically anything to do with this Browne family. I live in England and it is not easy to search Ireland hence my asking for help.

Thank you once again for your help and time spent. Not sure where I would get the Newspaper notice from?

Sorry, I hope I haven't mislead you in any way, am confused myself with everything and tend to jump from one thing to another.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hi, this is like instant messaging. I really shouldn't be up now as I have to be up at six in the morning but I find this so interesting and exciting. Thank you again Louise. What a find, this may well be my great grandfather as, if it is right, the James that was found baptised in 1855 would make the age of this death right. Louise, you obviously know what you are doing in relation to searching. Could I please leave this mystery with you and if you think of anything or come up with anything would you kindly let me know please. This James and his wife and also his possible parents, James Browne and Ellen Swiney has been bugging me for some years now.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hi again Louise, thank you once again for the information provided. On the marriage cert it says that Catherines' father was Dan Halloran (Holloran), Labourer and James' father as being James Browne Policeman. Without knowing an exact date for James' birth is there anyway I can find out when he died? He is not buried with Catherine (Kate).

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hello Louise, thank you so much for this information it is much appreciated. On Catheriine (Kate's) death certificate it says she was a widow. You say you have found them in the 1901 Census, does it give Annie's details and those of her siblings on the Census? Are you able please to send me the link to that Census?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I am also on the trail of James' father, also James Browne who was a policeman but I have no details for him whatsoever. There is a baptism record for James Jrn born 1855 the illegitimate son of James Browne and Ellen Swiney, well I think this is my James Jnr.

I work during the day so won't be able to check for any messages until I get home around 6pm. Thank you once again for your help and time spent.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn, I've had a look and found your Browns in the 1901 Census but can't see them in 1911, did they stay in Macroom???

The ages of Annies oldest sibling would suggest that her parents married before 1882/1883

I'd be fairly confident this is their marriage record, they both appear on the same page
Catherine
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYQF-66K

James
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYQJ-7MZ

Both of their names are spelled slightly differently

I am helping my mother in law with her tree and we found a very old family tree (1840-1850's) which belongs to the Fitzgerald's. It shows a William Fitzgerald married a Charlott Finn 1n 1852 and the emigration date is 1848 to Canada. It states they were natives from Count Kerry, Ireland. Any connections?

Hello, thank you for this information. Am not sure this Catherine is the correct one as she married James in Aglish in 1879 and that would only make her 14. Is that possible? On the marriage cert it says she is of full age. On the link you have given me do you have to search year by year to find someone? As a lot of my ancestors I haven't a clue exactly when they were born or in which parish.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Annie was born to James Browne and Kate Browne formerly Halloran. She was born on 19 September 1884 in Lissarda. Am desperately seeking information on this family especially the parents. I have Kate (Catherine) Browne nee Halloran born around 1862 and died 2 Jan 1939 Macroom. Her father was Daniel Halloran (Holloran). James Browne, I have no idea where or when he was born or when he died. He was a stone mason. I have found the family in the 1901 and 1911 Irish Census, well I believe it is them but can find nothing else on them. I wanted to attach Annie's birth certificate but it is a PDF document and I can't convert it to enable me to attach the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have posted a thread before about this family but am still hitting a brick wall in relation to James.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hi Mr. O'Brien,

If your still around, I'm looking for the arrival of Michael John Fallon, born Roscommon, Ireland. He and his family are in Bliss, Wyoming, NY 1850, boss of a RR track gang for what became the B&O RR. 1860 the family is in Remsen, Oneida, NY next door to Malachi Fallon believed to be his brother who was born abt 1821.

Michael was born 1818. There are NY natralization records in Cherry Valley, OH per a member of my family that I have not seen, she notes poss immigration via Canada or Bedford, MA, which I know may eliminate him from your resource. She also told me she had a record of his marriage abt 1840 in Toqua, MN to Mary "Delia" Bridget Barrett, but I have not confirmed this.

Some poss recs show a Mary Barrett arriving 13 Apr 1840 in NY aboard the Sheridan fr Liverpool, but probably NOT correct as there are no other Barretts with her and notes England.

Other than Malachi/Malachy, I am not aware of any other siblings. Looking for other possible arrivals. Thank you for your assistance. ~Lisa

What an amazing amount of research to do for someone, Dave. Very impressive and I hope she knows how lucky she is.

My mother Genevieve Daverin brought us to LA to stay at Aunt Rita's (Margaret) for a month in 1969 and 1971. I got to meet Billy, Tommy, Gerard, Celine, and Kevin. My father died in 1965 in an auto accident.

Hi Al - I'd love to have a copy of this - I didn't see your email address on the post so taking a chance that you are still connected to Ancestry message boards.
Kathleen

Hello John,

I almost fell out of my chair when I received your response! You are the first person to respond in almost 13 years.

Would you mind sending additional information so I can verify that we have the same person/family? My mom won't let me add anything to her database unless it's documented.

Many thanks - just felt a bit overwhelmed by trying to track James Hogan's Military career so this can help narrow things down. Wendy

I called her Aunt Rita and her older brother was my father John. The oldest was Aunt Mae (Mary) and the youngest was Uncle Frank (Francis). They came from Ireland in 1914-1915 after their mother died.
