During the war, a man who was in John TR's company died. Before he died, he gave John TR his New Testament (very small) and asked that he give it to his (the man who died) wife after the war. My father told me this story. I had always thought my great grandfather must have been a jerk and not completed the dying man's wish as my father had possession of the bible. I mentioned the story to my cousin John (son of Willard) who told me that my grandfather not only met the woman after the war but subsequently married her - this would me Mary Monk.I was relieved to say the least ;>
