Thanks Shane - what a useful website!

Unfortunately I can't find a Matthew or Michael on there that match mine (there is a Matthew Anderson getting married in 1863 whose father is listed as Michael, but as my Matthew was posted overseas in India at the time I'm fairly sure this isn't him!)

Michael's occupation on Matthews marriage cert is given as a labourer, so this doesn't help to narrow things down much....

I'll keep digging :-)
