I am hoping that somebody out there may be able to help me with my Brickwall. I am trying to find information on my gr gr grandfathers family. His name was Peter William GUNN bc 1840, native of Fermanagh, joined the RIC in 1860 and was stationed at Down and then Donegal, before resigning in 1863 to immigrate to Australia, where he joined the mounted police. He was a tailor by trade and opened his own business in 1876 in Cooma, NSW. He had at least three brothers, one who was John C GUNN bc 1839 , who also immigrated to Australia but in 1875. Apparently the other brothers stayed in Ireland. According to passenger records their parents names were Thomas and Catherine, both alive in 1864 and living in Derrylin.
Johns passenger record states, in 1875 he was 36, native of County Cavan, tailor, mother Catherine still alive and living in County Fermanagh.
If anyone could please help?
Tanya
