I am trying to trace my great-grandmother's family in Ireland. I believe that they originated from Fermanagh but at some point moved to Dublin.
My great-grandmother was Elizabeth Mary Cassidy, also known as Lily. I think she was born in the early 1890s as her husband Alan was born in 1891.
Her parents were Thomas Henry Cassidy and Bridget Connolly - I don't know their birth dates, and the only information I have is that Thomas Henry worked as a teacher, and that they had eleven children, including Elizabeth.
There are two family stories about Elizabeth's brother Michael - one, that he had a Master's degree in Botany, and two, that he was once arrested because it was thought that he was in the IRA. Unfortunately I don't know when or where this is supposed to have happened.
If any of this sounds familiar, or if anyone has any information at all, please get in touch. At the moment the Cassidys are one big brick wall in my research so anything would be helpful!
