I attach a copy of a land sale in 1853 for a "Thomas Boyse"
in the Barony of Clare, County Galway. This landholder does
not appear in Griffith for this address. Many wealthy people
were buying and selling estates in the 18th&19th century in
various parts of the country, so it is not easy to identify
There is a "Thomas H Boyce" in a place named "Bishopshall"
in the Barony of Ida in South Kilkenny, adjacent to Waterford. It may be the same person. There is also a possibility that a family member of Thomas "Royce" lived
in County Galway and the name was mis-spelled?
The web www.findmypast.ie
gives a good account of the various "Royce, Royse, Boyse, Boyce" family locations.
There is a reference to a land claim in Oughterard in 1840
by a "Thomas H Boyse". Report in Freemans Journal March 20th
1840. No information that he had lived there!
