Annette. you are more than kind to check all of that. Thus you see my problem. I wonder if the person taking the census in USA mistook the pronunciation of England to be Ireland. I did however FIND my John Demoy's birth and parents marriage . I have to go pull it. I found it on LDS. I know that France has MANY DeMoy. You are correct that it could have bee de MOY. (what does the "De" mean..OF or FROM? not sure.) I am SO stumped on this line. I have death records for John Demoy Jr so that confirms his parents as John Demoy and Maria/Moriah Reilly. It also says born in Ireland. (It may mean John only was born in Ireland. I have to trace history and wars and land ownership. Was Irealand or Galaway owned by another in 1821 etc. Also...John and Maria may have been married in "Chesterfield" I assume that might be England? I saw that on LDS. Trust me..This line has me so frustrated, the answer may be right under my nose. I am at a wall with John and Maria Reilly DeMoy. The land records/taxes I understand, but if they were paupers wouldn't have owned land and taxes? and would likely not have voted either right/?
